EGPC, ECS Join Forces to Promote Petroleum Exports, Attract Investments

The Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC) and the Egyptian Commercial Service (ECS) are forming a joint action plan aimed at increasing the export of petroleum products and attracting new investments in research and exploration. This came during a meeting between Salah Abdel Kerim, Chairman of EGPC, and Abdel Aziz Elsherif, First Under-Secretary of State at the Ministry of Investments and Foreign Trade and Head of ECS.

During the meeting, the two officials agreed to form a joint working team to study export and investment opportunities, gain an understanding of foreign markets, and prepare a joint executive program.

Abdel Kerim expressed EGPC’s desire to leverage the ECS’s services and its network of 44 foreign offices in 43 countries to promote EGPC’s activities and products, attract foreign investments in research and exploration, and contribute to the development of the petroleum sector.

Elsherif welcomed the cooperation with EGPC. He confirmed the ECS’s readiness to provide necessary support, which includes: opening new foreign markets, facilitating business-to-business (B2B) meetings between EGPC officials and their counterparts abroad, and providing market studies, access requirements, and technical specifications for targeted markets.

This meeting marks the formal start of cooperation between EGPC and the ECS in the areas of external marketing and attracting foreign investments, as per the Cabinet’s statement.

The ECS is the government trade promotion organization that works within the framework of the Ministry of Trade and Industry. ECS contributes to the economic and social development of Egypt through the promotion of exports and the attraction of foreign investment.
