Amb. Palminteri inaugurates Italian language week in Skopje

(ANSA) – SKOPJE, 14 OTT – The Embassy of Italy in Northern Macedonia inaugurated yesterday the XXV Week of the Italian Language in the World at the Europe House in Skopje, opening the celebrations with an evening entirely dedicated to italophony, the main theme of this edition. In his address of greeting, Ambassador Palminteri celebrated the importance of the anniversary, recalling how it coincides with the first international Italophonie conference to be held in Rome on November 19.
The event featured the participation of linguist Lucilla Pizzoli, professor at the International University of Rome, who gave a lecture on the spread and importance of the Italian language in the world.
This was followed by a panel discussion "New Contexts for Italian in North Macedonia," dedicated to the experimental project of the Liceo "Nikola Karev"-the only one in the country-launched in 2021, the result of the collaboration between the Liceo, the Dante Alighieri Institute, the Italian Embassy in Skopje, the University "Ss. Cyril and Methodius," and the Macedonian Association of Italian Teachers. Final goal: the creation of the first bilingual Italian-Macedonian classroom in the country.
The speakers presented the results achieved in the first four years, the contribution of each partner institution and the future prospects of this initiative. An inauguration under the banner of dialogue, cooperation and passion for the Italian language.
