Four probed over deadly collapse of Rome tower

(ANSA) – ROME, DEC 2 – Rome prosecutors have put four people under investigation over the partial collapse of a fortified medieval tower in the city on November 3 in which a worker died.
Octay Stroici, a 66-year-old Romanian, died after being trapped for 11 hours under the rubble of Rome's Torre dei Conti.
The worker, who was pulled out of the rubble alive but died of his injuries in hospital, was part of a team doing renovation and restoration work on the tower, which is very close to the Colosseum and the Roman Forum.
The four suspects are three architects, including the technical manager of the renovation project, and an engineer.
Investigators are looking into the alleged failure to properly assess the ability of the building's structure to hold up during the renovation. (ANSA).
